Super Smash Bros. for 3DS – Main Menu Features Revealed

A few days ago, Masahiro Sakurai revealed the main menu screen for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS via Miiverse.

This may not sound like a huge deal, but these images more or less confirm some of the features and modes included in the series’ handheld debut.

Check out the screens after the break.  Continue reading

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS – Paper Mario Stage Revealed

The Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will include an exclusive stage based on the Paper Mario franchise – the first from the series.

“This ship (seen below) is the S.S. Flavion from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door…Since the stage is paper, it transforms when it folds over and opens up again,” said series creator Masahiro Sakurai.

Sakurai revealed the following imagves of the new stage via Miiverse last night:

Super Smash Bros. 3DS - Paper Mario Stage 1 Super Smash Bros. 3DS - Paper Mario Stage 2

What do you think? Personally I find it strange that the 3DS-exclusive stage was based on the Gamecube installment, and not Paper Mario: Sticker Star, which launched in 2012 on the 3DS.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launches October 3; the Wii U version is slated for winter. Stay tuned for more details until then.

Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire – New Starter Mega Evolutions Revealed

The latest issue of CoroCoro magazine has revealed that all three starter Pokemon in the upcoming Pokemon Omega Ruby & Pokemon Alpha Sapphire will have “Mega Evolutions”.

Mega Blaziken was introduced in Pokemon X & Y, so that’s nothing new – but scans of the magazine (seen above) show images of Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile, as well as Mega Diancie, all of which look considerably impressive. More details after the break.  Continue reading

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS – Lucario Joins the Roster

Lucario, the “Aura Pokemon”, will return to the ever-expanding of fighters in the forthcoming installment of the Super Smash Bros. series for 3DS & Wii U.

Lucario was first introduced to SSB in the last game, Brawl. He was unique in that his attacks became more powerful and destructive after taking high amounts of damage, and many these moves were based directly on his actual attacks from the Pokemon games (such as Aura Sphere, Force Palm, Extremespeed, Double Team, and so on).

Here is the official word from Sakurai and the series’ official website:

The heroic Aura Pokémon, Lucario, joins the battle!! We’ve increased the influence of Aura this time, so a damaged Lucario is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Lucario joined the battle for the first time in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which was released six years ago. The production staff of Brawl worked really hard to expand the character roster–without their efforts, Lucario probably never would have joined the battle.

I am happy to see another Pokemon character confirmed for the next Super Smash Bros. - I am really hoping for the return of Pokemon Trainer, updated with creatures from Pokemon X & Y.

Keep checking back for updates about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U, I will try to stay current with any news as it comes out.

Pokemon X & Y – CoroCoro Officially Reveals Starter Evolutions, New Mega Pokemon

Since this is not officially considered a “leak”, I decided to go ahead and post it – the Japanese magazine CoroCoro’s most recent issue officially revealed a few new Mega Evolutions and the final forms of the Kalos Region starter Pokemon. To avoid blatantly spoiling too much, you can find the images from the magazine after the break.

Pokemon X & Y – Two More New Pokemon Revealed

Pokemon X Y - Spritzee Swirlix EvolutionsThe image you see to the right (click for full size) was taken from a Japanese magazine and confirms the evolved forms of Spritzee and Swirlix, two new Pokemon in Pokemon X & Pokemon Y.

No official details have been confirmed about these Pokemon at this point, but it is clear that they are the evolved forms of the two previously-revealed creatures.

What do you think? I’m not particularly thrilled about Sprizee or Swirlix, but at least their evolved forms look a little more powerful.
